Recommended Use
The Model 1000 is a remotely-controlled, electronically-operated locking device for sliding cell doors, sliding doors between safety vestibules and day room corridors, or sally port sliding doors.

Operation
Sliding door locking system, electric, keyless, fully selective locking device door. Remote electrical operation is performed by a momentary or maintained contact switch at the control panel, which operate an electrical motor activating the unlocking and movement of the door to the open/locked position. A single switch can provide for group unlocking of cell doors.

Door is attached to a hanger that is supported by four wheels on two seperate tracks making the door stable and balanced at all times. In the event of power failure, door can be manually unlocked with a manual release tool.

Electric motor with chain-driven device—prevent binding of door movement when sabotage of door (twisting) occurs. Smooth, quiet operation.

Adjustable DC clutch—if obstacles are placed in the door, clutch will slip preventing damage to locking system and limiting pressure on object placed in the door.

Sloped cover housing—prevents accumulation of debris and the placing and storage of contraband.

Four-wheeled, dual-track operating mechanism—provides a stable, balanced door that resists inmate tampering.

Bottom door guide and lock—guards against door susceptibility to unusual travel.

Mechanical release at door—provides mechanical release in case of power failure.

 Conforms to—and is listed under U.L. 1034.

  Locking Device Operators
Each door shall have an electric motor (120 volt, AC, 60 cycle, single phase) which, through a positive mechanical means shall move the door carriage back and forth, which in turn, operates the door and the locking and unlocking mechanisms at both the open and closed positions. Doors, upon reaching the closed position, must be locked at the top and at the bottom. Locking must be accomplished entirely by a mechanical means. The motor operating each door shall, as a safety measure, be connected to an adjustable clutch that will slip when pressure is applied against the movement of the door in either direction. Upon removal of any obstruction, the door can continue to move in the selected direction and lock. When the movement of the door is stopped due to the application of pressure, the operator at the control station shall be able to reverse the motion of the door immediately electronically. Device must be listed by a recognized testing organization under U.L. 1034, Burglary-Resistant Electronically Operated Door Mechanisms.

Controls
Mounted on the control console, a seperate three-position momentary selector switch for each cell door shall be provided and clearly labeled "OPEN, OFF, CLOSE." Three-position momentary selector switches shall also be provided for sally port and vestibule doors clearly labeled "OPEN, OFF, CLOSE."
A light shall be mounted adjacent to each door selector switch, which shall illuminate when the door is unlocked.

Control Operation
The cell door selector switches shall accomplish the following combination of door movements:
Single door control—each sliding door shall be operated by a selector switch with the capability to open and close all sliding cell doors in the selection as a group.
Emergency manual release—in the event of a power failure, at each door there shall be means of unlocking the door by removing a cover in the housing and inserting a special tool to unlock and open the door.
  Horizontal Mechanical Housing
Securely affixed to walls above the doors, housing shall run continuously for the entire length of the cell run. The portion of the housing which makes direct contact to the wall, as well as the bottom of the housing, shall be constructed of not less than 3/16" thick mild steel plate. The front face (corridor side) of the housing shall be made of one-piece open-hearth steel sheet of not less than 1/8" thick; shall be removable in lengths not exceeding seven feet; shall be attached in place to prevent unauthorized removal. Top of mechanism housings which do not extend to the ceilings shall slope in such a manner as to prevent accumulation of debris or concealment of contraband. Mechanism housings shall be so constructed that slots through which door hangers travel will be baffled to prevent the insertion of objects which may otherwise tend to cause a malfunction.

Electrical
Electrical supply, door control wiring and control panel to be provided by others and meet national and local code requirements.

Guarantee
Equipment furnished shall be guaranteed against defects in material or workmanship for a period of one year after acceptance. The Contractor will provide a locking mechanism operations manual for the owner's use.
