An electric door indicator that provides a method of remote indication of the condition (open or closed) of the individual swing door positions. When the door is moved ajar from its closed position, a sensitive switch is activated and completes an electrical circuit and energizes the warning device.
Recommended Use
The Model 282NJ is recommended for use on swinging doors in conjunction with the indicating circuit of electric detention locks. Therefore, any condition other than fully closed/locked position activates the warning circuit. If it is necessary to know the open or closed position of a non-electrical door, the Model 282NJ performs this function as well.
Operation
The device is mounted by bolting or welding to the door frame and bolted to the surface of the door if material density allows. The door position switch is wired through the back of the housing utilizing embedded conduit in the frame. |

Architectural Specifications
Provide, where indicated on the Security Hardware Schedule, a door position switch, AIM Model 282NJ or equal, to provide the following function:
When door is ajar or open, a circuit shall be completed (or interrupted) by the switch contained therein, said circuit to activate (or deactivate) a warning device as required; to be located where indicated on the drawings.
The switch shall be adjustable so that when installed it can complete the circuit before the door is opened far enough to provide vision from the roon into the corridor. Where required, it shall operate in conjunction with a limit switch in an electromechanical lock so that the warning device may be activated by either or both. The Electrical Contractor shall supply and install all wiring and conduits from the source of the supply to the door position switch and from the door position switch to the lock indicator if it exists.
